Pop is rhythm – rhythmic elements and melodies presented in a conventional mainstream style. Popular stands for “having popular appeal” and therefore can include just about any type of music even if they are attributed to other music styles. It is characterised as a lighter alternative style of rock and roll. Pop songs are usually no more than 5 minutes long and focus on lyrics about love and life. It is generally claimed that pop music sole purpose is to sell you mp3 downloads and music CD’s rather than focussing on the music itself. This is of course not true with many great Pop songs proving that pop music is here to stay despite the notorious accusations of not really being music at all
