Rhythm and blues is a diverse genre of music, originally created by African Americans the term was first used to refer to recordings bought by African Americans. By the 1970s, the term R&B was being used as a music term to describe soul and funk. Finally today R&B is now mainly used to refer to a modern version of soul and funky pop music sold everywhere on music CDs and MP3 downloads.
